Hi,

You may give a try to "'sweet dreams" to save energy : disable wifi or 3G in time range or geolocalization, etc.
I don't know if it's working well on SIII, but it changed my life on SII.
Maybe power manager (turn features off depeding on battery level) should help you too.

Why do you want to connect your phone to your computer? There's really no need unless you're doing dev work.

Nice writeup though. Thanks for sharing.

You can try the Subsonic android app to stream your music.

Here's a simple python server where you can easily patch the transcoding part
* https://github.com/ioggstream/iposonic

Or you can use the official java webapp:

I can highly recommend JuiceDefender to help with battery life. It automatically balances certain functions on the phone, e.g. switching to 2G when the screen is off, disabling wifi unless you're in a specific location (and learns where you like to use wifi) etc. etc.

Mostly I save it now for when I know I'm not going to be near any power sources for a while. My Galaxy Nexus has much better battery life than the Nexus One ever did so it's become less necessary for general use.

QQPlayer is a great movie app for Android, seems far faster and smoother than any others I've used.

Try disabling autobrightness and using the Brightness Level widget (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.curvefish.widgets.brightnesslevel). This will give you more flexible control over exactly how bright your screen is. By tweaking it to be exactly as bright as I need for the room I'm in I noticed an appreciable difference in battery life.

Tip on music, try Google Music again, and use also the uploader on your mac. This way you can auto upload all your music from your mac to Google, and it comes available on your device with the Google Music player.

You can sync your music to your device by making it available offline. It's the best auto sync there is for Android.

Hello,

you should add <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm&hl=en" rel="nofollow">tasker</a> app on your phone, I am pretty sure you will like it. You can find a series of good articles on <a href="http://www.pocketables.com/tag/tasker" rel="nofollow">pocketables.com</a> to beat the learning curve.
